Introduction
Having a Sharingan remained just a dream, and this pain still lingers, but what can we do? Have you ever thought about who the most powerful Sharingan user in the series is? Is it Madara, Obito, Itachi, or someone else? In today’s blog, we will discuss the four most powerful Sharingan users and rank them.
10th Rank: The Normal Sharingan Users
In the tenth rank of this list is the normal Sharingan user. Many can fall into this category, those who managed to activate only the three-tomoe Sharingan throughout their lives and remained quite average. During the Edo period, amidst the fights between the Uchiha and the Senju, some activated their three-tomoe Sharingan.
As you all might know from my “History of the Sharingan” blog, the three-tomoe Sharingan is powerful, but it’s just a basic level of the true powers of the Sharingan. However, there are exceptions, like those who, after activating the three-tomoe Sharingan, became more powerful than the average users, such as Itachi, Sasuke, and Obito. I will talk about them later in this blog.
9th Rank: Kakashi Hatake – The Copy Ninja
In the ninth rank is Kakashi Hatake, also known as the “Copy Ninja.” Kakashi mastered the copy technique to its maximum potential, having copied over 1,000 jutsus. He could perfectly copy any jutsu so swiftly that by the time the opponent completed the hand signs, Kakashi had already copied and performed the jutsu himself, as seen during his fight with Zabuza. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, we saw his full potential. If he had the Susanoo permanently, he could be much higher on this list, but that’s not the case.
“The power of the Sharingan is immense, but it comes with great responsibility. Those who wield it must do so with caution and wisdom.”
– Kakashi Hatake
8th Rank: Sasuke Uchiha – The Prodigy
In the eighth rank is Sasuke Uchiha. I know many might be shocked to see Sasuke at this rank, considering his destructive performance during the Fourth Great Ninja War. He managed to take on multiple opponents at once, using the Sharingan to its maximum potential.
In the Fourth Great Ninja War, he even acquired the Rinnegan, not just a normal Rinnegan, but a six-tomoe Rinnegan. However, he didn’t use it to its maximum potential except during his fight with Naruto. After that, we never saw him at his full potential again. I included the Rinnegan in my blog as it is just an advanced form of the Sharingan.
I placed Sasuke at the 8th rank because, apart from the Rinnegan, his Sharingan didn’t have any unique powers. He mainly used the Rinnegan for teleportation. His Mangekyo and Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan didn’t have any distinctive abilities; Amaterasu was inherited from Itachi, and Chidori was taught to him by Kakashi. Sasuke could have used these abilities to their maximum potential and even modified them, Just nothing else. This is why I ranked Sasuke 8th on this list.
7th Rank: Shisui Uchiha – The Talented Shinobi
In the seventh rank of Gods of Genjutsu, if he hadn’t died, I’m talking about Shisui Uchiha. This character needs no introduction, as he appeared in only a few episodes but made a significant impact and showcased the true power of genjutsu. His genjutsu was so powerful that even someone like Itachi couldn’t immediately tell if he was under his genjutsu or not.
Even other ninjas would hesitate to confront him from a young age. Shisui was so powerful that his name alone instilled fear. If he hadn’t been betrayed and killed, he would have held the title of the “God of Genjutsu.”
6th Rank: Nagato (Pain) – Wielder of the Rinnegan
Well, let’s move on to the next rank , which is Pain, also known as Nagato. Although he didn’t originally possess the Sharingan but as we are considering the Rinnegan in this blog. Due to a Uzumaki, Nagato had an enormous chakra reserve from a young age and could freely use the Rinnegan’s abilities. You might remember the moment when Nagato, using the Rinnegan, summoned the Gedo Statue in front of the Hidden Leaf Village and wiped out all the ninjas there when yahiko died.
Because he was not originally an Uchiha, summoning the Gedo Statue put a lot of strain on his body, making him very weak. To tackle this weakness, he created the Six Paths of Pain using the Rinnegan. He divided the Rinnegan’s six different powers among six different bodies and linked their vision.
During his fight with the Hidden Leaf Village, we saw his true power and realized the immense strength of the Rinnegan. Using the Rinnegan, Pain destroyed the entire Hidden Leaf Village with an Almighty Push in a matter of seconds, killing thousands of people.
5th Rank: Itachi Uchiha – The Genius Strategist
Now, Let’s move on to the next character on this list, who is none other than the God himself, Itachi Uchiha. Many people might argue that Pain is more powerful, but you should remember that Itachi was always sick, which prevented him from reaching his maximum potential.
I’ve made a blog on this topic called “What If Itachi Activated Rinnegan,” where I thoroughly explain how powerful Itachi could have been if he were at his peak. Be sure to watch that blog as it’s very informative and enjoyable.
Itachi is more powerful than Pain because of his incredible intelligence and strategic mind, which allowed him to single-handedly stop the entire Fourth Great Ninja War. As for his abilities, he had Amaterasu, which incinerate everything in front of it to ashes, and his Susanoo.
Itachi’s Susanoo had two unique abilities: the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The Yata Mirror could block any attack, making Itachi invincible in defense, while the Totsuka Blade could seal anything it pierced into an eternal genjutsu, as he did with Orochimaru. Although Orochimaru managed to escape, this demonstrates the blade’s power.
Now, let’s move on to the fourth rank on this list.
4th Rank: Obito Uchiha – The Greatest Lover in History
Let’s talk about the next character, who is known as the greatest lover in history. He waged war against the entire world just for his love, fighting everyone on his own. Yes, I’m talking about Obito Uchiha.
As a child, Obito suffered a terrible accident, which led him to give one of his eyes to Kakashi. As a result, he never had both of his eyes at the same time, except during the Fourth Great Ninja War. During this time, he had both eyes, but since he didn’t have both eyes earlier and didn’t have any siblings to implant their Mangekyo Sharingan, he could never unlock the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Because of all this, he couldn’t naturally activate the Rinnegan.
Despite these limitations, Obito demonstrated incredible power using just one of Madara’s Rinnegan during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Imagine if he had his own original Rinnegan or had the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan – he could have been unstoppable, even surpassing Madara. This shows how powerful he was with just a single Mangekyo Sharingan, and at 100%, he would have been even more formidable.
Now, let’s move on to the top three characters on this list. If you are still reading the blog, thank you, and make sure to share the blog.
3rd Rank: Indra Otsutsuki – The Progenitor of the Uchiha Clan
Well, let’s move on to the character in the third rank on this list: Indra Otsutsuki. The Otsutsuki title alone indicates how powerful he was. Even a weaker Otsutsuki is powerful enough to challenge an entire nation on their own. We’re talking about Indra, who established the foundation of the Uchiha clan.
Being an Otsutsuki, Indra could use literally every ability to its maximum potential. Techniques like Izanagi and Izanami wouldn’t even cause him to lose his eyesight, and his enormous chakra reserve allowed him to use even Susanoo or the most powerful techniques for extended periods without any risk. You might remember the scene where he fought against Ashura, where Ashura had to rely on everyone’s help to counter Indra’s Susanoo.
Indra’s true power isn’t fully explored in the series because the writer didn’t delve deeply into his story.
2nd Rank: Madara Uchiha – The Ghost of Uchiha
Now, let’s talk about the character who holds the 2nd rank on the list: the ghost of Uchiha, the one and only Madara Uchiha. Just hearing Madara’s name is enough to shake the shinobi world. We saw in the Fourth Great Ninja War that more than 10,000 elite shinobi, the five Kage, and all the Tailed Beasts were fighting against him. But when he obtained the Rinnegan, his power reached unimaginable heights.
He wielded the Rinnegan with such mastery that it made the entire shinobi world break into a sweat. When facing the entire Allied Shinobi Forces, Kage, and Tailed Beasts, he was literally smiling because he knew they had never witnessed his true power. After obtaining the Rinnegan, he dominated everyone and showed what true power is.
There’s no need to explain much more about Madara. If you want to learn about his history and powers, you can read my blog, “History of Madara,” where I explain everything in detail.
“The Sharingan’s true power is not in copying ninjutsu but in perceiving reality. It can see the truth in all things, even the lies we tell ourselves.”
– Madara Uchiha
1st Rank: Hagoromo Otsutsuki – The Sage of Six Paths
Now, let’s talk about the first rank on this list, the God, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. He was the first person to activate the Rinnegan and used its power to seal Kaguya. He was also the first person to activate the Susanoo, and his Susanoo was incredibly powerful, capable of standing toe-to-toe with the Ten Tails. Additionally, he gave Sasuke the Rinnegan, which is why Sasuke had the most powerful Rinnegan.
