Introduction:
The Uchiha Clan was one of the most formidable clans in Konoha, known for their powerful Sharingan and natural combat abilities. Over time, their relationship with the Konoha clan worsened. During this downfall, many Uchiha members were killed, leaving only a few remaining.
The Uchiha Clan is descended from Indra Otsutsuki, the elder son of Hagoromo Otsutsuki.
The Uchiha clan inherited Hagoromo’s eye through Indra .By which they inherited powerful spiritual energy and Chakra.
The Curse of Hatred started with Indra. Uchihas have strong emotions, especially immense love for their friends and family, which can transform into intense hatred when they experience loss. This pain often activates their Sharingan, making them feared by others. The long-standing conflict between the Uchiha and Senju clans began with Indra and his younger brother, Asura.
Before his death, the Sage of Six Paths chose Asura as his successor because he believed Asura’s love for peace surpassed Indra’s power. This angered Indra, who then fought Asura to reclaim his birthright. The descendants of Indra and Asura, the Uchiha and Senju clans, continued this fight, even though they had forgotten its original cause. During the Warring States Period, the Uchiha and Senju clans became the most renowned ninja clans in the world. If one country hired the Uchiha Clan for war, the opposing country would hire the Senju Clan, leading to endless battles and casualties.
Madara and Hashirama: Friends Turned Rivals
The conflict started to resolve when Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju became friends. Both of them loved their own younger brothers and were opposed to children fighting in wars. They dreamed of a future where children wouldn’t have to fight. However, Madara eventually abandoned this dream, leading to battles with Hashirama on the battlefield. Madara sought only to defeat Hashirama.
With the help of his younger brother, Madara became the first Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan and then became the leader of the Uchiha clan. Hashirama Senju also became the leader of the Senju clan. Hashirama tried to end the conflict through his position. While the Uchiha clan desired peace, Hashirama’s brother Tobirama killed Madara’s brother, which led Madara to decline joining the alliance.
Madara then took his brother’s eyes, gaining the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, and had a final battle with Hashirama. Madara lost but still didn’t want to listen to Hashirama. However, somehow Hashirama managed to convince Madara, as they were good friends in childhood.
“The Uchiha are exceptional shinobi. Their natural combat prowess combined with the Sharingan makes them a force to be reckoned with in any conflict.”
– Minato Namikaze
The Founding of Konoha: A New Era for the Uchiha
Then Hashirama persuaded Madara to form an alliance, leading to the creation of the Hidden Leaf Village (Konoha) in the Land of Fire, where many other clans joined. The whole shinobi world replicated Konoha’s model, marking the beginning of a new era.
The village began electing a leader, and Hashirama became the first Hokage. Madara opposed Hashirama’s leadership and provoked his clan to regain control of the village, but the Uchiha clan, not wanting more fighting, ignored him. This led Madara to leave the village. He later returned to fight Hashirama, resulting in his death at the Valley of the End.
Hashirama made Tobirama Hokage and told him to maintain peace with the Uchiha clan. Tobirama created the Konoha Military Police Force for the Uchiha, aiming to use their skills for Konoha’s betterment and improve their image. However, the police force was located remotely and had no influence on Konoha’s government. Over time this led the Uchiha to feel isolated and believe the government was just using them.
Conflicts After the Third Shinobi World War:
After the Third Shinobi World War, the Uchiha clan wanted their leader, Fugaku, to be the Fourth Hokage, but he wasn’t even considered for the position. Instead, Minato Namikaze was chosen. Fugaku’s supporters protested, but Fugaku stopped them.
The Nine-Tails Attack and Its Aftermath: Suspicions Against the Uchiha:
Few months later, during the Nine-Tailed Fox’s attack, Fugaku sent the military police to stop it, believing their Sharingan could control the beast. However, they were ordered by Konoha leadership to patrol Konoha’s borders instead. Fugaku didn’t object and accepted the order. Villagers began to suspect that if the Sharingan could defend against the Nine-Tails, it might also be capable of causing the attack.
But after the attack, the Uchiha clan was relocated, supposedly for security reasons. In reality, Konoha’s Council believed the Uchiha were behind the attack, and by relocating them, the council wanted to monitor them more closely. As a result, Fugaku and the Uchiha clan began to believe that Konoha did not acknowledge them as part of the village, and they started to think that Madara was right.
The Coup d’État: Plans for Rebellion
After that, the Uchiha clan began planning a coup d’état to take control of the village. To do this, Fugaku had a few clan members join the Anbu to act as spies. However, these members did not want a fight between the two clans, fearing it would lead to another war. Shisui Uchiha tried to stop the coup with his Kotoamatsukami, but Danzo Shimura thwarted his plan because he believed it would only stop the coup temporarily. Danzo thought the only way to prevent the coup permanently was to exterminate the entire Uchiha clan.
Itachi’s Dilemma: The Choice to Save or Destroy
Danzo then met with Fugaku’s son, Itachi. Danzo offered Itachi a choice: support the Uchiha clan and start the war, or kill the entire Uchiha clan before the coup d’état to save his younger brother, Sasuke. Itachi chose to save Sasuke, seeking help from Tobi, who he believed to be Madara Uchiha. Together, Itachi and Tobi killed the Uchiha clan in one night. Itachi personally goes to kill his parents, and when Sasuke sees him, he takes the blame on himself while keeping Danzo’s offer a secret, revealing that he did it to save Sasuke.
In his grief over killing his parents, Itachi wanted Sasuke to take revenge on him. That’s why he encouraged Sasuke to become strong, so that Sasuke could one day kill him and give him the punishment he felt he deserved. Before leaving the village, Itachi asked the Third Hokage to protect Sasuke.
Conflicted After the Uchiha Massacre
After the massacre, the military police force was given to the Fuma Clan. Only three Uchihas remained: Itachi, publicly seen as a traitor by joining akatsuki but secretly spying for Konoha, eventually died fighting Sasuke. Sasuke, wanting to avenge his clan after killing itachi he joined the Akatsuki to destroy Konoha . And Tobi, who was actually Obito Uchiha and had been saved by Madara during the Third Shinobi World War, persuades Sasuke to join his side after Itachi’s death by revealing the deal between Itachi and Konoha. However, after talking with reincarnated Itachi, Sasuke changes his decision because destroying Konoha would make Itachi’s sacrifice meaningless.
The Fourth Shinobi World War: Redemption and Sacrifice
In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Madara was resurrected and, with Obito, tried to put the world in an Infinite Tsukuyomi using the Ten-Tails. After learning the truth from Itachi, Sasuke joined the Allied Shinobi Forces. Obito also, realizing his mistakes, also turned against Madara. To make up for his mistakes, Obito sacrifices his life to help end the war.
After losing to Naruto in a fight, Sasuke becomes free from the Curse of Hatred. Despite his past crimes, Sasuke was pardoned for his contributions in the war. Years later, Sasuke married Sakura, and they had a daughter, Sarada. At one time, Sasuke Uchiha’s selective history was restricted from the public.
One of Orochimaru’s experimental test subjects and followers, Shin, created clones with Sharingan, planning to recreate the Uchiha Clan. However, his clones rebelled and killed him, eventually settling in Konoha.
“The Uchiha Clan’s abilities are both impressive and dangerous. Their Sharingan allows them to dominate in battle, but their history is marred by the Curse of Hatred.”
– Tobirama Senju
Uchiha Clan’s Abilities:
Regarding Uchiha abilities, they naturally possess exceptional combat skills and advanced growth rates. Uchihas have strong chakra, with a natural affinity for fire. An Uchiha is considered an adult upon mastering the Great Fireball Technique. Exceptional Uchihas master it to the extent that it takes multiple water release user to extinguish their flames. Uchihas are also known for using shuriken in combat.
And many Shinobi feared the Uchiha’s dojutsu kekkei genkai, the Sharingan, because it allowed them to predict opponents’ movements, cast illusions, and copy jutsu. This is why many opponents chose to run away instead of fighting the Uchiha.
The loss of loved ones activated the Mangekyo Sharingan, granting more powerful jutsu, but its overuse led to blindness. To restore vision, they transplanted their sibling’s eyes, obtaining the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. This mechanic was long misunderstood, leading Uchihas to kill their loved ones for power. I have a detailed blog on the Sharingan. Go read the blog.
