In the last Solo Leveling blog, I told you a little about the Rulers, Monarchs, and the Absolute Being. After reading that blog, some people got really angry, saying, “Brother, you are only giving us half the story, tell us everything!” Okay, okay, I heard you. In today’s blog, I will explain everything in detail. Yes, we will explain all the gods that appear in the story and delve into their past to understand what exactly happened. Now, it’s obvious that this blog will be full of spoilers, so if you don’t want any spoilers, stop the blog right here.
The Absolute Being: Creator of Light and Darkness
So, when the story of Solo Leveling begins, only light and darkness existed. There was an Absolute Being here, which you can consider as the God of the Universe because he was supremely powerful. He had countless powers. Using his powers, the Absolute Being created Divine Heralds from the light and eight MONARCHS from the darkness. These Divine Heralds later came to be known as the Rulers and the rest of the blog i will refer them as Rulers. The two groups were given opposing commands by the Absolute Being: the Monarchs were tasked with destroying the world, while the Rulers were tasked with saving it.
The Endless Battle: Light vs. Darkness
From then on, these two groups kept fighting each other endlessly with no end in sight. Tired of this never-ending battle, one day, the most brilliant fragrance of light, a Ruler, went to the Absolute Being. He asked the Absolute Being if they could be given some extra power to defeat the Monarchs and end the fight. “Can’t you hear the cries of the soldiers dying in this war?” he asked. “Just help us once, and then see how we cut the heads of our enemies and place them at your feet.”
These were powerful words from the Ruler, but even after hearing them, the Absolute Being gave no reply. This was the moment when the Ruler realized that the Absolute Being didn’t care about the world. Yes, he was literally just enjoying the show. He was entertaining himself by making the Rulers and Monarchs fight each other.
“The war between Rulers and Monarchs is a tragedy of the divine. The Chalice of Rebirth may turn back time, but it cannot undo the suffering endured.”
– Jin-Woo
The Betrayal: The Rulers’ Revolt
The Absolute Being had three commandments: everyone must worship The Absolute Being, everyone must praise The Absolute Being, and everyone must remain loyal to The Absolute Being in body, mind, and blood. These commandments were somewhat similar to the rules in Cartenon Temple.
The commandments also stated that anyone who didn’t follow these three rules would not be spared. But the Rulers thought, “Those who are following these commandments are still dying in this senseless war.” So, the Rulers finally decided to kill the Absolute Being, because as long as the Absolute Being existed, this war would never end.
The Rise of Ashborn: From Light to Shadow
There was only one Ruler who didn’t want to go against the Absolute Being, and he stood against all the other Rulers. What was his name? Ashborn? He was supposedly the strongest, the brightest fragrance of light. But of course, since he was fighting against all the other Rulers, Ashborn couldn’t stand a chance against them. Consequently, Ashborn lost and felt like he was about to die. But then something happened. Yes, something happened indeed. Ashborn stood up, but this time he was on the side of darkness. How did this happen?”
The Shadow Army: Ashborn’s Hidden Power
Ashborn had a unique hidden power within him, and with the help of this hidden power, whenever Ashborn said “Arise,” all those who had died in battle would return as his shadow army. Now, think about it—there must have been countless soldiers who died in the war, so Ashborn could literally revive all of them into his shadow army. In my opinion, the Absolute Being gave this power to Ashborn because the Absolute Being knew that Ashborn wouldn’t go against him. This is not written anywhere; I am speaking from my mind.
The Fall of the Absolute Being: Rulers’ Victory
However, it does happen that Ashborn sets out to save the Absolute Being with his new army, but by the time he reaches the Absolute Being, it is too late because the Rulers have already killed the Absolute Being. Okay, okay, before knowing the story further, let me address a common question that must be on everyone’s mind right now. The question is, the Absolute Being was the Creator, the most powerful, omnipotent, and whatever word you use, so how did he lose to the Rulers? Well, even though the Absolute Being was a Creator, he wasn’t a warrior. He could create everything. He had infinite power, but he couldn’t fight; he couldn’t defend himself. He had to create things for that too. But before he could do anything, the Rulers went and killed him. This is how the Absolute Being was killed. Now that doubt is clear, let’s get back to the story.
The New Order: Rulers vs. Monarchs
After killing the Absolute Being, these HERALDS started calling themselves the Rulers. I have been calling them Rulers from the beginning to avoid confusion. These Rulers seized some powerful tools created by the Absolute Being, which helped them defeat the Monarchs. Their first victim was the Legia, The Monarch of Genesis, whom we also call the King of Giants. Yes, the Rulers literally chained him and kind of made him a captive. Now, the balance of power shifted because the Rulers became more powerful. Taking advantage of this situation, Ashborn joined hands with the Monarchs, and since then he became known as the Shadow Monarch.
With Ashborn changing sides, the power balance equalized again, and a war started once more, lasting for centuries. It means that due to the Shadow Monarch, the balance of power was restored, and killing the Absolute Being didn’t help. In fact, if you think about it, the longer the fight goes on, the more it harms the Rulers because the Shadow Monarch could gather dead people into his army. And that’s what happened because at one point the Shadow Monarch became so powerful that his army could even challenge the Legion of Doom. Now, what is the Legion of Doom? Well, it’s an army ruled by the King of Blaze Dragons . Basically, he was the strongest. At this point, not only were the Rulers afraid of Ashborn, but even the Monarchs started fearing him. Because he was becoming too overpowered. Due to this fear, two Monarchs secretly joined forces and attacked the Shadow Monarch. In this battle, the Shadow Monarch’s army suffered heavy losses. But yes, our Shadow Monarch doesn’t give up that easily. He punishes the traitors severely. By the way, let me tell you that these two Monarchs were the Fang Monarch and the Demon King Baaran, who is also called the Monarch of White Flames.
At the end of the battle, the Fang Monarch escapes leaving his army behind, but Baaran wasn’t so lucky. Basically, the Demon King Baaran had to face the consequences of betrayal, which was death at the hands of the Shadow Monarch.
After the death of Baaran, the Rulers surrounded Ashborn. Now you might think that the Rulers would defeat Ashborn easily, but that’s not the case because the Rulers ask Ashborn for forgiveness. Yes, they say that “at one time you used to be a powerful ally, but now looking at you, what have you become? Now we have come to shake hands with you and also to apologize for what we did to you before.”
Now, your clever mind might be wondering why the Rulers are trying to befriend the Shadow Monarch. It’s because literally they have a great deal of respect for him, as there was a time when the entire Rulers’ army was led by him.
But the Shadow Monarch says, ‘The Rulers joined together to kill my master, so I won’t shake hands with you. Kill me here if you want.’ After hearing this, the Rulers apologize and leave. Seeing the big hearts of the Rulers, the Shadow Monarch also feels embarrassed and decides to go into hiding.
Actually, there was another reason for going into hiding; the army of Ashborn had become too tired and weak. So he quietly rebuilt his army, his Shadow Army, because he is the Shadow Monarch. Now, at the right time, he plans to take revenge on the Fang Monarch and attacks him. But by then, the Rulers had already torn apart the Monarch’s army because the Monarchs had become weak again, literally hiding in the dimensional rift. And there, the Shadow Monarch arrives.
The Dragon Emperor welcomes him warmly, which is quite unexpected. Of course, the Dragon Emperor did this on purpose because he knew that they were weak. If they went against him, whatever was left would also be finished, and the Rulers would completely end them. So, he decided to join hands with him since he was strong. These Monarchs are very clever, not so pure-hearted as the Rulers are. After that, Monarchs started rebuilding their army in hiding from the Rulers. They needed a new world, and that new world was Earth. The Rulers found out about this, but by the time they came to Earth, the Monarchs had already wreaked havoc, and Earth was completely destroyed. Everything was gone, all humans were dead. What did you think? Earth would survive? Nothing was left, all humans were killed. You might wonder, then how are we existing now in this Solo Leveling world?
The Chalice of Rebirth: Resetting Time
Hold on, don’t panic so much. Basically, here comes a twist. To correct this mistake, the Rulers use a very divine tool. This tool was called a taboo tool by the Absolute Being, which shouldn’t be used. This divine tool was the ‘The Chalice of Rebirth,’ which could turn back time by 10 years. Meaning, if we go back 10 years, Earth was good then, right? Humans were alive, so we went back to that time because the Rulers used the ‘The Chalice of Rebirth.’
After going back 10 years, the Rulers and Monarchs again clash on Earth. But the outcome is still the same because when these two terrifying forces fight, we humans won’t survive. So yes, they fought, whatever the outcome, whether the Monarchs won or the Rulers won, one outcome was certain: humanity would be finished. We humans would be killed. So, several times they used the ‘The Chalice of Rebirth,’ each time with different strategies, but the result was the same: humanity finished.
“We were given the power to protect, yet we find ourselves in endless battle. Is this truly the will of the Absolute Being”?”
– The Brightest Fragrance of Light (Ruler)
Awakening Humans: The Birth of Hunters
Actually then, the Rulers decided that even if they couldn’t save all of humanity, they would save at least some humans, so our civilization wouldn’t be completely wiped out. If some humans survive, society would slowly develop again. This is where the game of Awakening starts.
Yes, where humans start gaining powers and become hunters. But let me be clear that whenever the ‘The Chalice of Rebirth’ is used, only the Rulers and Monarchs remember what happened in the last cycle, but humanity does not.
So it’s obvious that Monarch also had refined their plan a lot. They also understood what game was being played here. Monarch was literally waiting for the day when The Chalice of Rebirth would stop working. Yes, the tools of the Absolute Being have limited magic. No power is infinite. The Chalice of Rebirth was starting to kind of dry up.Only a few more uses were possible there. So now, as the Rulers were giving powers to all humans, they were awakening us so that we could somehow survive their fight. Monarchs were also trying to manifest in our world by borrowing human bodies. That’s why monsters also are coming into our world.
Now, you understand why gates started opening suddenly 10 years ago. Danjan started coming, monsters started coming, awakened humans were coming, and they began fighting monsters, and the whole hunter game started.
The plan was to exploit the Rulers’ mana and unleash it throughout the world so that the whole world would become a giant trap. And this is the plan of the Monarchs. So, both parties were manipulating humanity from their side, and we humans knew nothing. We were busy playing Hunter Hunter.
The Architect and the System: Jin-Woo’s Journey
Now coming back to the point, the Shadow Monarch and the Monarch of Destruction were very powerful, and having them in any human body was kind of impossible. And then the new character came into the picture, the Architect, who designed the whole system. The same system I mentioned in the previous blog, the Cartenon Temple one. And how Jin-woo was chosen, as also mentioned in the last blog, that he was chosen by the Shadow Monarch himself. Though the Architect wanted strong men for it, the Shadow Monarch needed a person who had seen death not once, but several times. And then there is the system where Jin-Woo will level up, complete quests, become powerful, and gradually gain the power of the shadow. What happened next? We will discuss that in other blog because first, I need to explain the whole system to you. You need to know everything about Jin-Woo, his shadows, monsters, and the strong hunters. We will discuss their powers, and the great battles that took place, who fought whom, and who won. There is a lot to cover, which can’t be done in one blog. There will be seven or eight consecutive blogs. It’s going to be fun, But as I promised at the start of the blog, I will tell you the complete history of the Gods of Solo Leveling. And here, the full history is done. The blog ends. If there are any mistakes, forgive me. If you have any doubts, ask in the comments. If you liked the blog, like and share it.
