Introduction
In the world of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the Hashira are the elite warriors of the Demon Slayer Corps, each specializing in unique breathing techniques and possessing immense strength and skill. These pillars of strength stand as humanity’s last line of defense against the demonic threats. As a dedicated fan, I’ve grown attached to these characters, each bringing something special to the table. While it’s hard to rank such incredible fighters, I’ve compiled a personal list of the Hashira, from the formidable yet gentle to the fiercely powerful.
Please note that I won’t be discussing the Hashira featured in the upcoming season to avoid spoilers. Let’s delve into the world of the Hashira and celebrate their remarkable journeys and abilities! Now, let’s begin the rankings.
Number 9: Shinobu Kochō – The Graceful Insect Hashira
Shinobu Kochō, the Insect Hashira, is a name that brings a sense of grace and serenity, much like a blooming garden. She got enough screen time in season 1, and many fans adore her and Giyu Tomioka, as we all know. Among all Hashira, Shinobu is the weakest one. She has four different forms in total. We already watched her in action in season 1.
Number 8: Tengen Uzui – The Flashy Sound Hashira
We watched him in season 2 fighting with Gyutaro and Daki. The animation of the fights is out of this world, and we watched his powers too. The fight was too good. Those who have not read the manga might think that he gave a strong fight against an Upper Moon; why he was at number 8. The answer is simple: the other Hashira are stronger than him as the season progresses, you will see. We all know that he is the Sound Hashira and he has 5 different forms. He is upper mid-tier among all the Demon Slayers.
“I may be the Insect Hashira, but I have a dream of living in a world where demons and humans can coexist.”
– Shinobu Kochō (Insect Hashira)
Number 7: Mitsuri Kanroji – The Passionate Love Hashira
The Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, we watched her in action in season 3. Her power is different from all other Demon Slayers. She uses Love Breathing. We are not yet introduced to Love Breathing, hence we know not much. This breathing has 6 different forms. We see in season 3 how capable she is; she single-handedly stopped an upper rank demon and saved the swordsmith village. By the way did not try to stock her because Obanai Iguro will kill you. You know the reason. Don’t you?
Number 6: Kyōjurō Rengoku – The Inspiring Flame Hashira
The Hashira that made us all cry. The small movie shows his journey. This small screen time made us fall in love with this beautiful character. He stole our hearts with only one movie. We all know which breathing technique he uses: I’m talking about Flame Breathing, which has 9 different forms, including Rengoku’s family-exclusive form, which we all watched in the last part of the movie.
This was amazing; that he has his own form with his own name. And Rengoku was a high-tier Hashira. And Akaza was too powerful for Rengoku. You all think that Rengoku gave a strong fight against Akaza, but deep down, manga readers know that Akaza merely played with him. But in the end, Rengoku made us cry. If you break down over just one Hashira dying, then you are not ready for the future because you will break down completely.
Number 5: Giyu Tomioka – The Stoic Water Hashira
Our introvert guy, Giyu Tomioka. We have a soft corner for him because in the first season, he helped Tanjiro and Nezuko. He sent them to train, which is how the story began and continued. We see many people made memes and relate to Giyu because he is an introvert and we have many introvert people around us.
We watched him in action in season 1. He is a high-tier Hashira. He uses ten different forms, as we all know, but his 11th form is something special. We are going to see this in the next season. Whoever read the manga knows how sad his backstory is and knows why he is always silent and introvert. We are all going to see his backstory in upcoming seasons.
Number 4: Muichiro Tokito – The Prodigious Mist Hashira
The youngest Hashira, Muichiro Tokito. We saw him in action in season 3. He is a Mist Hashira and has 6 different forms. He defeated an upper-rank demon single-handedly. He is super fast. He is the only Hashira that gained Hashira status in 2 months. His Mist Breathing technique creates confusion, allowing him to strike unseen.
Number 3: Obanai Iguro – The Fierce Serpent Hashira
He really deserves the top 3. We all have to wait long to watch him in action in anime. He has 5 different forms. And his attitude is known to all in season 1. But don’t know about his rage. We will know in the future. He uses the Serpent Breathing technique. Serpent Breathing, derived from Water Breathing, is a unique and captivating combat style that mirrors the fluid and unpredictable movements of a snake.
This technique is defined by its twisting, slithering motions and striking patterns, allowing Obanai to move with the agility and precision of a serpent. His mastery of this style makes his attacks both beautiful and deadly, as he dances through his enemies with the grace and lethal accuracy of a snake.
Number 2: Sanemi Shinazugawa – The Unyielding Wind Hashira
My favorite Hashira among the list. We saw him in season 1 always angry. When we will know his backstory, we will surely love him. He is a high-tier Hashira. What he will do in the last of the story , you are not ready for it, bro. He uses Wind Breathing and has 9 different forms. Manga readers will know about his power and how much he capable of. He has 9 different forms and all forms are strong, especially the 7th form is super strong.
Number 1: Gyomei Himejima – The Indomitable Stone Hashira
The Stone Hashira, he has just five forms, but it is enough to defeat anyone. In the whole anime, he is the strongest and most powerful Hashira. In anime, we saw him just cry and saw him in a different way, so non-manga readers would think that he is not likely powerful, but when he will fight, we will be mouth-open. And the fact that he is blind. Despite blindness, Gyomei gained the ability to see without his eyes. He has no need to see because he creates images in his mind. He has enough power to fight with the great Muzan. He is in his own league.
“Set your heart ablaze. Go beyond your limits. Just look ahead and keep moving forward.”
– Kyōjurō Rengoku (Flame Hashira)
